No Scopist? What’s Stopping You?

As a professional, it’s only natural that you’re concerned that the quality of your transcripts will suffer if you use a scopist or proofreader – and rightfully so. Ultimately, it’s your professional reputation that’s on the line.

Put Your Fears To Rest

Because Premier Scopist believes the relationship between a reporter and scopist is a partnership and treats it as such, I take great pains to ensure no transcript changes are made without your knowledge. The net result is that when you use my scoping services you get the freedom to do other things with your time without sacrificing the quality of your transcripts.

With that in mind, I’ve developed a Court Reporter Preferences questionnaire, as well as a standardized list of scan-stop notations and abbreviations which I insert into your transcript when necessary.

Court Reporter Preferences

Because every reporter is unique, the Court Reporter Preferences questionnaire is designed to help me quickly adapt to your personal transcript style and eliminate some of the learning curve caused by individual reporter preferences.

When you first start using Premier Scopist you’ll be asked to complete this questionnaire so that there’s no delay in getting your transcripts back to you exactly the way you want them. Of course, you’re welcome to make additions, deletions or changes to your preferences at any time you wish.

Maintain Quality Control

The standardized list of scoping notations & abbreviations I’ve developed enables you to quickly and easily review my work at your convenience. This ensures you can monitor and maintain the quality of your work by providing a simple method of checking all editing changes before your transcript goes to the client.

Scoping Background

As a result of my court reporter training, in addition to being computer literate, I can both read and write steno, which my reporter clients find to be a great asset, particularly in cases where there is no audio back-up. I’m also well aware of and familiar with the difficulties reporters face on a daily basis in the performance of their duties.

My background includes extensive experience scoping and proofreading a broad range of legal and quasi-legal material from a variety of jurisdictions, including the following, to name just a few:
